About Survivor 5

My life, on a day to day basis, has been all about surviving. The abuse inflicted on me was traumatic and sadly, long lasting. The human spirit/psyche develops mind games/defense mechanisms to face the demons, uncertainties, insecurities, fears, shame, and self-loathing that is a fabric of everyday life.

I have made it through over 60 years, striving to stay positive and a contributing member of society, which qualifies me as a survivor.  I have two daughters and two grandchildren, and together, we equal 5 persons, and thus Survivor 5 was born.

Mission Statement:

To give understanding, support to victims of any and all kinds of abuse. To say to all…’you are not alone…you can get through this in a positive, healthy way…'

About LJ

I am the fifth child of eight. I came from  an alcoholic house/upbringing-if you can call it that. Although I graduated high school, alcohol addiction prevented me from going further with my education.

I am proud to say that I have been sober since 10/3/1974 and since then, have tried my best to support all those who are fighting addiction.

I have two daughters and two grandchildren who are the highlights of my life…every day. It's impossible to list my favorite moments with them as there are too many to count. Being a part of their lives and witnessing and experiencing their individual growth personifies what my life is all about.

I am an avid reader, music lover, sports enthusiast, hiker, and runner.

A few accomplishments are:

Completed 10 marathons (26.2 miles each)

Completed 50+ 5k, 10k, and 1/2 marathons

Hiked the AMC 48 4000+ Peaks in NH
